RSPB Bird Disturbance Survey

Introduction

GGKM worked with the RSPB, Natural England and the local authorities of Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale to assess the impact of recreational disturbance on wintering waterfowl across the North Kent Marshes. 

The surveyed covered the internationally protected marshes from Gravesend to Whitstable. Some 22 locations were surveyed regularly between December 2010 and February 2011. Numbers and species of birds were recorded, numbers of people, dogs, types of activities carried out and the reaction of bird species.
