Breaking News…..£100,000 Funding Success!

Art at the Centre has just been granted £100,000 by Arts Council South East towards the second phase of partnership-funded activities broadening the remit to regeneration projects across Swale. The other funding partners include Swale Borough Council, Kent County Council and SEEDA. There are also sponsorship opportunities for local businesses and investors to be involved in specific projects.

The Art at the Centre phase two plan consists of three elements;

1.      A Mobile Space acting as a gallery, consultation and workshop space.
2.      A series of innovative temporary Public Art interventions.
3.      Workspace for Artists (a studio complex created from converted shipping containers) for early career Creative Industries and artists in Queenborough and Rushenden.

This two years programme with a £245,000 budget will embed creativity in the regeneration of Swale, and provide a delivery model for future council cultural regeneration schemes. The areas of focus for project delivery are Queenborough and Rushenden, Leysdown, Sheerness and Milton Creek. Once commissioned the mobile space will travel between locations, alternating every few months, running a series of public engagement projects which directly involve the people of Swale in the creative regeneration process.

There are opportunities for artists to become part of a thriving artist hub at the Queenborough Workspaces, as well as potential commissions as projects progress to delivery stage. If you are looking for affordable artist studio or creative business space please register you interest with Art at the Centre now via the details below.
There will be plenty of free workshops and events for members of the public to attend to celebrate and learn about creativity in Swale.
